I'm Back!

After taking an extended holiday break, I'm back and full of updates! (Mostly because it's been a month and two days since my last post.) I still cannot believe how fast time seems to be going. It seems as though we just rang in the new year, and now it's practically February. How did that happen?

I feel so fortunate to have spent a few days at home in Iowa with my family for Christmas, although it wasn't nearly long enough! Nonetheless, it was great to take part in the same traditions we've kept for the past 22 years.

Packed and ready to go! Waiting for the airport shuttle.

Annual Christmas gathering with old high school friends.
(L to R): Ashley (and baby boy Hokel), me, Lauren, Brook, Sarah, Kari,
Whitney, Mary, Jessica, Chelsey, Averie and Brittany

This year we braved the icy roads for brunch at Granite City...
Only to find out they're no longer serving brunch on Saturdays.
Needless to say, we were all a little bummed.

Seeing these two little munchkins was the highlight of my trip!

Mesmerized by the Christmas tree.

Caught this little girl trying to sneak a peak!

Babies' first Christmas!

Leaving home was hard, but the day after I got back to LA my friend Annie came from New York to visit. Annie and I met in Seattle while we were interning at Nordstrom. Ironically we lived a couple houses apart from one another, and we're both Chi Omega's. (She's originally from Georgia, but she now works for a clothing company in New York.) I hadn't seen Annie since that summer (over a year!), so I was beyond excited for her to visit.

A few days after I got back to LA,
I received a beautiful arrangement from Aunt Tracy and Grandma and Grandpa Sheldahl.

The Grove was still decorated for Christmas when I got back.
It's hard to see, but every night it "snows".
I finally got to experience the magic!

Ashley and I met through Annie in Los Angeles.
This was the first time the three of us were altogether!

On New Year's Eve, Anna and Morgan (two fellow ISU fashion grads), Sydney and myself went to a party in the Hollywood Hills at what happened to be Brian Austin Greene and Megan Fox's old home. (How random!) This house was straight out of a movie from the 70s - complete with dim yellowish lighting, fur walls, velvet ottomans and beaded doorways. Not necessarily how I would have decorated, but still very cool and over-the-top. The four of us had a great time together ringing in 2013.

Happy 2013!

The following morning, Jennifer and Marisa invited me to join them for an afternoon hike. What better way to start 2013 than with a hike in Malibu? We took the PCH (Pacific Coast Highway) up the coast from Santa Monica to Malibu. The drive alone was breathtaking. We rolled the windows down and turned the music up loud.

Last Tuesday night, I joined Kelly for the Gelux Magazine release party. Genlux is a California publication that publishes quarterly. There's always a release party each time a new issue is published. The Winter issue release party was held at the Sofitel Hotel in Beverly Hills. The party was great, but the highlight of my night was meeting Tilky Jones aka Sean Bulter from the new hit show Nashville. (Side note, I LOVE that show! Has anyone else been watching?)

Perez Hilton.

I had to Tweet at Tilky, and he replied! Made my night :)

I spent this past weekend, with Anna and Morgan. They live downtown, so I went that direction on Saturday night, and we took the subway to LA Live. This was my first LA subway experience. Why can't LA have a subway system like NYC? It would be so convenient!

Downtown street art.

LA Live still looking festive.

Sunday we went to Paradise Cove in Malibu. We spent the day soaking up the sun, enjoying the beautiful view and taking in the sounds and smell of the Pacific Ocean. It was nice to escape from the city and just relax.

Warm and sunny Sunday afternoon.

No wonder they call it Paradise Cove!

I was hoping to go again this weekend, but with rain in the forecast I don't think it's going to happen. Time to start thinking about plan b...

For my fellow 'Bachelor' lovers out there, Jackie was wearing Shail K, a client of ours, when she met Sean for the first time! If you want to help me out, please "Like" their page on Facebook and Follow them on Twitter and Instagram - @ShailK :)

Jackie is in the front row on Sean's left-hand side.

Meeting Sean in Shail K!

I'll leave you with a beautiful picture taken from my desk at KMA...

Thanks for reading!
