Oscars Weekend Wrap-Up

There's something about being in Los Angeles that makes Awards Season feel a little more magical. Perhaps living amongst all the action makes me more aware? Whatever it is, I was beyond excited to celebrate Oscars weekend! My favorite part? Seeing all the Hollywood glitz and glamour sashaying across the red carpet...and the 85th Academy Awards did not disappoint!

Friday night I went from one job to another. Let me back up for a minute...I couple months ago I decided to apply for Tres LA - a Los Angeles based catering company. Why you ask? Well, I heard great things about the company and the young people they employ. I thought it would be a fun way to get out and meet new people. (Oh, and having a little extra spending money isn't half bad either.)

Anyways, Friday was my very first event for Tres LA, and it just happened to be the William Morris Endeavor Oscars party! William Morris Endeavor (WME) is the largest and oldest global talent agency. Each year, WME hosts an Oscars party at co-CEO Ari Emanuel's house. "Work" aside, it was probably one of my most memorable experiences since moving to LA. It was surreal to be in the same room as some of the biggest names in Hollywood.

I'm sure some of you might be wondering who was there, so I made a list especially for you. (Keep in mind this is not nearly everyone at the party. This is simply the names I could remember off the top of my head.) Ben Affleck, Jennifer Garner, Tom Brady, Gisele Bundchen, Amy Adams, Emma Watson, Hugh Jackman and his wife Deborra-Lee Furness, Charlize Theron, Jack Black, Russell Brand, Liam Hemsworth, Taylor Lautner, Tyra Banks, Octavia Spencer, Viola Davis, Conan O'Brien, John C. Riley, Garrett Hedlund, Ashlan Gorse, Lara Spencer, Jonah Hill, Daniel Radcliffe, Patrick Stewart, Larry David, Morrissey (former Smiths singer), Jeffrey Katzenbery (DreamWorks Animation head), Brad Grey (Paramount), Les Moonves (Viacom).

I only wish I had pictures to show. You'll just have to take my word on this one :)

The other highlight of the weekend was Sydney's sister Katie and friends Michelle and Michelle (yes, two Michelle's) were in town. For this, I have a few pictures...

Flaming margs at El Compadre.

We sat next to Ben Schwartz from 'House of Lies'

Chatting with Clyde... I mean Ben.

Saturday brunch at Laurel Hardware in WeHo.

Dinner at Katsuya on Hollywood Blvd.

Sydney, Michelle, Michelle on the left.
Myself and Katie on the right.

Overpriced sushi in the making.

The geek squad at AV Nightclub.

On Sunday, Sydney's Aunt Kathy invited us over to watch the Oscars. She spoiled us (as always) with lots of delicious eats, wine and champagne.

A small potion of the decadent Oscars party spread.
Hosted by Aunt Kathy and Uncle Len.

Cheers to the Oscars!

Silver Lake sunset from the Mattachine Steps.

This week I anxiously await the arrival of two friends, Justina and Jessi! I'm so excited to have them visit and am really looking forward to showing them around the new city that I call home. Between the three of us, there's bound to be PLENTY of pictures to post from our week/end together. Here's to hoping the massive snowstorm doesn't get in the way of them getting here! (Everyone keep your fingers crossed!)

Until next week...

Show & Tell

As I continue to post these updates, I'm finding that it's much for fun to show rather than tell. I like to wait until I have several pictures to share, which explains the delay. But it's way better than simply typing about what I'm doing, right?

Here's what I've been up to these past few weeks:

On Tuesday, February 5th, our restaurant - Duplex on Third - hosted French Tuesdays.
(French Tuesdays is a social club that hosts exclusive parties every other Tuesday at beautiful venues in major cities around the world, including Los Angeles.)

Kelly, Sylva and I at French Tuesdays.

Those of you who know me know that Valentine's Day is my LEAST favorite holiday.
I posted this photo jokingly with the caption:
"This is the extent of my Valentine's Day cheer."

Luckily Matt shares in my dislike for this cheesy day.
He's been really busy these past couple weeks,
so we decided to celebrate (un)Valentine's Day sometime this week.

Treats from home made this Valentine's Day a little brighter :)

I ran into "Billy Abbott" (real name Billy Miller) from Y&R on Friday night!
It's safe to say this was the highlight of Mom's and my weekend :)

Saturday morning,
Sydney, Anna, Morgan and I went on a hike up to the Griffith Observatory.

A view of the Hollywood sign on the way up.

Sydney, Anna, myself and Morgan.
A little throwback to the 90s with the sweatshirt tied around the waist :)

The collection of buildings on the right is downtown Los Angeles.

This is looking towards the coast.
It's hard to see in the picture, but we could see all the way to the ocean!

(There's a really cool planetarium inside!)

Looking the opposite direction.
See the Hollywood sign?

Testing out the panoramic camera on my phone.

 On top of the world!!!
Or just on a top of a stump...

For those of you who have never seen LA "smog" before, here you go.
That yellow/orange haze is smog. Yuck.

But still a beautiful view.

Matching on accident.

Woo!

Excited for a fun Saturday night!

Sunday afternoon at the Melrose Trading Post.
The flea market takes place every Sunday in the parking lot of Fairfax High School.
The $2 admission fee goes to support the students.
It's a fun way to support the community, enjoy a beautiful Sunday afternoon outdoors, and find lots of unique hidden treasures!

This morning, I heard a "winter storm" is headed our way.
Not sure what LA considers a winter storm, but I'm guessing this is it?
I prefer to say, "Rain, rain go away."

The cutest thing I ever did see!
Tyler giving Grace a little smooch on the cheek.

Grandma captured this. When she got ready to take the picture they were both looking at the camera. Afterwards she noticed Tyler had leaned in for a kiss. (Aww!)

Happy 10 month birthday to my favorite twin cousins!!
(I miss these two cuties so much.)

Hope everyone's week is off to a great start!

Short & Sweet

Not a lot has happened since my last post, so this will be short and sweet...

Union Station - Downtown LA

View of Union Station from the rooftop at Anna and Morgan's apartment.

If you've seen Gangster Squad, this might look familiar.

Headed to LA Live in downtown LA.

Friday night we celebrated my friend Ashley's birthday.

We started off with dinner at Pink Taco.
Then we moved across the street to The Den.
Also at The Den: Jennifer Lawrence.

Super Bowl Sunday Funday at Yard House with Morgan and Anna.
(And Matt...not pictured)

Cool Red Bull ad painted on the side of a building.
